Andrew, Madison and Morgan were introduced in the spring of 2009 and constructed Rekless Youth. Weeks after jamming and rehearsing they had already started playing shows around Charlotte and near by South Carolina supporting local and regional bands.
Summer 2009, nearly a couple months of meeting, 'RY' hit the road for a two week tour with SC punk band 'The Fast Boys'. The tour took the band into new territory playing in cities along the way such as: Nashville, Knoxville, Lexington, Cincinnati, Raleigh...
After finishing the tour in August, 2009 they were invited to play the annual 'Battle Slam Jam', a skate tournament that supports charitable foundations and gives kids an opp. to get out and skate! Fuel TV sponsored the event and the guys got an on-air interview on FUEL!
In that same month they began laying down tracks for what would be 'Love Me Hate Me' (recorded @ a home studio "Blue Bubble" in Charlotte)
In October, 2009 they were asked to play at the biggest venue offered yet, the Charlotte Convention Center. 'Just For Kids' was the name of the event. This was a charitable festival that hosted regional and national acts. Young Joc headlined.
Halloween, 2009 their 'Love Me Hate Me' EP was released to the public. Review at link (http://www.musictap.net/AsTheDiscSpins/2010/AsTheDiscSpinsVol7No1032210.html) The cd release party was at 'The Visulite' (Charlotte) with local ska band Bums Lie.
Winter 2009, 'RY' continue to play shows and get the opp. to open for national touring acts like 'Nekromantix'. Later December, 2009 they hit the road for their second time. This time, alone. The winter tour took them down into Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina.
Early 2010 they keep promoting 'Love Me Hate Me' getting reviews in local magazines and digital magazines and started getting radio play on 106.5fm 'The End' on Sunday nights.
Late February 'RY' get the invite to play SXSW, one of the biggest music conferences in the world. And In just a couple weeks of the invite take the 20 hour straight drive into Austin, TX along with thousands of other eager bands.
Spring, 2010 they embark on a short one week tour revisiting Nashville, Knoxville, Cincinnati and playing new ones like Roanoke and Myrtle Beach.
Late Spring the band submitted to a contest called 'The Miller Lite Great Taste Music Series'. Winners would open for Everclear at Charlotte festival 'Speed Street' They excelled all the way to the semi-finals over hundreds of submissions, quite the feat for a band under the age, at the time.
Moving into the Summer of 2010, the band had interviews on Divakars' 90 minutes, the Sunday night radio show. Also played SC metal/punk fest 'Summer Side Show' with some big names in the hardcore world.
In the Summer they hit the road again for another tour with SC band 'The Fast Boys' which would be called 'The Fast and Rekless Tour' hitting cities in FL, GA, SC, NC, TN, KY, AL.
June 2010 the guys play Charlotte festival 'Dudefest', a benefit for the Save The Tatas foundation.
August 2010 'RY' does a weekend warrior tour with 'The Fishnet Stalkers' a Baltimore based band, The 4 date tour took them to Raleigh, Wilmington, Charlotte and Greenville.
That same month they play the annual "Battle Slam Jam' again.
Fall and Winter the guys continue to play around the region playing several new venues such as Amos' Southend in Charlotte and the Sylvia Theater in York. They also begin to write and record new material for their next album.
During early 2011 through Spring the guys are concentrating on writing and recording, still playing gigs around the area and touring on the weekends.
Summer 2011 'RY' team up with Zodiac Killer Records band, the Sonic Negroes (from Sweden) and tour several dates around the East. OH, PA, VA, NC and SC this time.
Late August the new self titled 'Rekless Youth' cd is back from the printers and ready for the public. Sep. 16th album drops digitally. Black Fri. Nov. 25th is local cd release party! (look at our dates)
